Asphalt based sealers perform well in the south but the performance in northern climates like New England has not been favorable.

There are now water based petroleum resin sealers that are now withstanding the abuse they take in areas with harsh winters. They are providing the same benefits of a coal tar based sealers; while being environmentally friendly and safe for the workers that apply it. These sealers are pet and human friendly in comparison to traditional coal tar based sealers.

These petroleum resin sealers such as Neyra Force and Black Diamond provide excellent durability, jet black color, color stability and coverage. Similar to coal tar sealers the resin sealers protect the asphalt from the harmful ultra violet rays of the sun, (causing oxidation) water and harmful chemicals. They resist damage that can be caused by oil, gas spills and leaks. Petroleum resin sealers are environmentally friendly and non-flammable. These resin based sealers do not have the strong odor like coal tar sealers.
