Tyngsborough, MA Officials from Tyngsborough Public Schools, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the town joined students, educators, and representatives from LeftField, JCJ Architecture, and Fontaine Bros. to celebrate the official groundbreaking of the 112,784 s/f Tyngsborough Middle School.

Designed by JCJ Architecture, with LeftField serving as owner’s project manager and Fontaine Bros. as construction manager, the new facility, being constructed between the existing middle school and high school, will replace the existing middle school and attached gymnasium built in 1967, which has reached its life expectancy. The new middle school is designed to allow middle school programming for teachers and students to be located within their academic teams and create flexible grade-level neighborhoods that contain synergistic collections of agile classrooms, extended learning areas, and small group meeting rooms. The new facility will continue to support the current theatre program with a continued theater venue and a flexible performance space.

During ceremonial remarks, senator Edward Kennedy explained the recent supplemental grants he orchestrated through the state budget process, which is anticipated to provide an additional $4.1 million in relief funding to the town as a result of unprecedented construction escalation experienced by 30 projects funded in part through the MSBA pipeline.

“I am excited to see the design and future educational program & facility for Tyngsborough’s middle school learners become a reality. On behalf of LeftField, we would like to praise the town, school district, JCJ Architecture, and Fontaine Bros. for all of their hard work behind the scenes to make this project a reality!” said David Saindon, project executive for LeftField.

When it comes to corporate interior spaces for both commercial and industrial projects, partnering with a design-build firm with in-house interior design services can offer clients many benefits. Unlike traditional delivery methods where interior designers operate independently from the design and construction teams, often creating a longer project timeline as cost negotiations and revisions ensue

State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.
