Chapman Construction completes renovations for Southcoast Health at Rosebrook

Wareham, MA Chapman Construction has completed an 8,500 s/f multi-phased occupied renovation project for Southcoast Health at Rosebrook. The project was completed in an occupied setting and resulted in improvements to multiple areas, including patient waiting rooms, cardiology treatment room, nurses’ stations, bathrooms, and more.

The first phase of work concentrated on renovations to combine separate patient waiting areas into one convenient space. Due to needing to maintain patient access while the site was active, Chapman created a temporary waiting area in a nearby conference room and constructed a hallway to preserve pedestrian flow to other areas of the medical practice. The work was completed adjacent to multiple specialty departments, including cardiology, bariatrics, and the brain & spine center. In addition, the combined space freed up critical space to build additional treatment rooms.

In the second phase of the project, Chapman renovated shell space on the third floor of the facility to create 11 additional treatment rooms; two new nurses’ stations; and associated supporting rooms. The expansion and the reorganization of the existing space also allowed for the addition of three new specialty care services including audiology, ear/nose/throat (ENT, otolaryngology) and vascular surgery. Finally, the Chapman team oversaw the construction of four new treatment rooms and a new nurse’s station within the Cardiology department, along with creating a new break room for staff.

Chapman’s experience managing projects in occupied healthcare settings played a critical role in the successful completion of the work for Southcoast Health. Understanding the concerns of both staff and patients, along with strict adherence to infection control policies, meant that the practice could continue delivering cutting- edge care while renovations progressed in the background.

“Southcoast Health had a vision to make key improvements that would enhance the patient experience and address feedback from our caregivers and physicians,” said Lauren Sirois, Director of Design and Construction at Southcoast Health. “Partnering with Chapman Construction enabled us to successfully carry out a multi phased program, keeping our practice managers informed and delivering critical spaces on schedule for the patients who rely on them every day.”
