Woburn, MA U.S. Pavement Services, Inc. was named the number one contractor for 2016 by Pavement Maintenance and Reconstruction Magazine from a pool of over 20,000 paving and paving maintenance contractors. The award was accepted at the National Pavement Expo (NPE) by founder and CEO, Mike Musto. It was the culmination of a remarkable year for the company which saw record growth for the fifth consecutive year.

Musto reflected on the award and the year for his company. “We consider ourselves a family at U.S. Pavement Services and the success we experienced in 2015 was unprecedented in our 30 year history. It’s a credit to our hard working and committed staff and crews. We have the industry’s highest standards so recognition from the voice of the industry as number one among thousands of eligible contractors nationwide is gratifying but we’re only getting started.”

Pavement Maintenance and Reconstruction Magazine publisher, Amy Schwandt, said, “The magazine’s selection process was exhaustive and had several stages. Companies were judged on quality of work, safety records, scope and variety of jobs, community outreach and overall growth. U.S. Pavement Services had many credentials that made them stand out above the rest. They are not the biggest company but their standards set the pace for the entire industry.”

Started in 1985, U.S. Pavement Services did nearly $50 million in sales in 2015, up from $36 million in 2014. The full-service paving and pavement maintenance contractor completed over 3,500 parking lot jobs and more than 2,000 residential driveways in 2015. Much of the parking lot work was from national accounts through the 1-800-PAVEMENT Network, which the contractor founded and manages. Nearly 200 members strong, the Network consists of nationwide 800 vanity numbers which include 1-800-ASPHALT, 1- 800-SEALCOAT, 1- 800-BLACKTOP, 1- 800-STRIPING, 1-800-DRIVEWAY and 1-888-PAVEMENT. The Network combined did $1 billion in sales last year. In addition, U.S. Pavement Services is committed to buying, selling, and using only products that are Made In America. Community involvement is a core value and they pledge their support of military veterans and their families, including spearheading a campaign focused on the hiring of veterans.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
