Stafford of Stafford Const. Services elected ASM president

ASM's first woman president, Sara Stafford, comes to the role with years of experience, having served in ASM leadership since 2001. Stafford is president and owner of Stafford Construction Services, Inc., of Saugus, a union commercial plastering and drywall-contracting firm that she started in 1993 after managing a construction supply business for 13 years. One of the firm's first projects was the installation of 900 doors and 11 pallets of hardware at the Boston Garden renovation. 15 years and over 700 projects later, Stafford Construction continues to build schools, universities, office buildings and transit stations in the metropolitan Boston area. Breaking many glass ceilings, Stafford was the first woman management trustee on the Boston Carpenters' joint apprenticeship board, where she has served for 12 years. She was the first woman business owner to be appointed to the Associated General Contractors of Mass. board of directors. She is also a past president of the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. For the past 8 years, Stafford Construction has been named to the Top 100 women-led businesses in Mass. Active in politics, Stafford has testified at the U.S. Capitol at congressional hearings and at the Mass. State House on issues concerning the construction industry.
