Southport wins two awards from National Association of Home Builders - developed/built by Bonvie

Southport won two more national awards from the 50+ Housing Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The national silver awards for "Best Sales Center" and "Best Online Marketing Campaign" were presented to Southport's developer and builder, Ron Bonvie, at the 2015 International Builders Show in Las Vegas. These awards mark the fourth consecutive year that Southport has won national awards from NAHB including "Best Home Design in America," "Best Website for a Residential Community" and "Best Model Merchandising." The community has twice been named to Where to Retire magazine's "Top 100 Master-Planned Communities in America" and has again been nominated for this biennial honor in 2015. Results for this year's list will be published in the July/August issue. After receiving these two recent NAHB awards, Bonvie commented on what an honor it is to receive national awards. "The competition at the national level among active adult communities is tremendous. To receive these awards is very gratifying and a further indication of Southport's success and popularity. The real 'winners,' however, are the Southport homeowners who enjoy a quality lifestyle that is incomparable anywhere in the Northeast," he said. Southport's amenities include a 32,000 s/f Village Center clubhouse with indoor and outdoor heated pools, 400-seat grand ballroom, fitness center, aerobics/cardio room, sports lounge, billiards room, woodworking shop, library, nail salon, barber shop, computer center, bocce and shuffleboard courts, plus a nine-hole, par-28 golf course and tennis courts with a separate tennis and golf clubhouse. There are no separate greens fees or membership fee to play golf; it's all included in the monthly condominium association fee. Also included in this fee is a guardhouse at the main entrance that is staffed 24/7. "Southport is 90% sold out," said sales manager Fred Frazier, "but there are excellent woods and water views of Martha Pond still available." The national award-winning models, sales center and clubhouse are open daily from 9-4. "Scheduling a tour is recommended so our sales associates can allow sufficient time to show all of the amenities to visitors," he said.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
