Boston, MA Shawmut Design and Construction, a leading $1.5 billion national construction management firm, participated in the 2021 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), marking the fourteenth consecutive year the firm has participated in the bike-a-thon to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Once again, Team Shawmut has broken its fundraising goal, amassing more than $1.77 million in total fundraising since the team’s inception. The money raised directly supports the research being conducted by Dana-Farber’s Dr. Christopher Sweeney, who rode with Team Shawmut for the seventh consecutive year.
Team Shawmut – which includes CEO Les Hiscoe, Shawmut employees, friends, and patients – has consistently raised more than $100,000 per year to support Dr. Sweeney’s efforts, enabling him and his team to create a unique database of cancer specimens, discover key causes of incurable cancer, and test a new drug designed to make standard therapies more effective.
“The PMC is a long-standing tradition for Shawmut, and each year I continue to be inspired by the unwavering support from fellow employees, partners, family, and friends who raise funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,” said Hiscoe, CEO of Shawmut. “Team Shawmut’s donations through PMC are empowering top researchers and aiding trailblazing breakthroughs, but we’re also creating a community that provides support for those affected by cancer — and building strong communities remains a fundamental value of who we are.”
