Reveler Development reveals newest development in Maine - The Eddy

Biddeford, ME Reveler Development, a leading Maine-based real estate investment, development, and management company, has revealed the identity of its upcoming multifamily community – The Eddy.

The Eddy will be located at 8 Eddy Ave. (formerly 60 Barra Rd.) and will feature 250 residential units throughout the building’s six floors. Neighboring downtown, The Eddy combines urban living with a connection to nature. Located amongst the trees and minutes away from the Saco River, The Eddy features indoor-outdoor amenities and access to the Eastern Trail. This connection to the outdoors informed the building’s name, drawing inspiration from the town’s history – one that is rooted in its proximity to nearby waterways and the seacoast. Just as an eddy introduces new motion to an established current, The Eddy aims to bring a dynamic new community to the area.

Upon completion, The Eddy will offer 116 studios and 134 one-bedrooms that all feature finishes, open-concept layouts, stainless appliances, and matte black fixtures. Select units will also include private patios overlooking a courtyard. Designed to enhance the community’s focus on the outdoors, The Eddy’s courtyard will feature green space, fire pit lounges, a bocce court, dining and grilling patios, and a community garden. On the ground floor of the building, The Eddy will usher residents into an array of amenities, including a golf simulator, yoga studio, fitness center, game room, theater, library, and sunroom.

“As our third residential community in Biddeford, we are excited to further our commitment to this historic city with the addition of The Eddy,” said John Laliberte, Reveler’s CEO. “The Eddy will highlight the qualities that make Biddeford an exceptional place to live – its proximity to the seacoast, abundant outdoor recreation, and close access to award-winning dining, shopping, art, and entertainment. We look forward to seeing this community grow and are excited to continue contributing to Biddeford’s bright future.”

The Eddy is being developed through Reveler’s close partnerships with leading, local partners, including Porta Capital Partners of Portland, Portsmouth-based architecture/interiors firm, Market Square Architects, and Maine-based construction company, Penobscot General Contractors. The Eddy will be managed by Port Property, Reveler’s award-winning property management division. Based in Portland, Port Property manages over 100 properties across southern Maine, including two mixed-use communities in Biddeford – The Levee and Riverdam, which received MEREDA’s 2021 Notable Project Award.

The Eddy is scheduled to open for occupancy in spring of 2025, with preleasing expected to begin January 2025.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
