Pro Con Inc handles building fit-up of MRI unit at 155 Borthwick Avenue

Pro Con Inc is building the fit-up of a medical office suite in the West Building at 155 Borthwick Ave. to accommodate a fixed Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit for Portsmouth Regional Hospital. JSA of Portsmouth is architect for the project. As part of the medical office fit-up, Pro Con will reinforce the floor of the MRI room by pouring a new slab with steel columns and footings. The interior of the MRI room will be encased with a copper shield and a quench vent will be installed up through the core of the building. Plans call for the MRI to be craned into place through an exterior wall, requiring the exterior skin of the building to be removed prior to installation and rebuilt following the installation. The 6 month project began in the spring of 2012 and is expected to be completed in late fall. The MRI suite is one of several medical office fit-ups Pro Con has managed at 155 Borthwick Ave. including a 7,000 s/f office fitup for Beacon Internal Medicine and a 16,000 s/f fit-up for Portsmouth Regional Hospital's Physical Therapy and Pediatric Rehabilitation Center. Pro Con was the architect and the construction manager for the $5.2 million west wing expansion to155 Borthwick Ave., which was completed in 2008. Pro Con Inc is an award winning design and construction management firm offering a unique design build delivery system called the "Diamond Solution."
