Nauset Const. completes Residences at Atlantis Marina - 44 units

Nauset Construction completed the Residence at Atlantis Marina, a new luxury residential community. Located on the waterfront, this new five-story, mixed-use facility contains 44-residential units, street-level retail space, a below grade parking garage, as well as surface parking. Nauset worked with Boston-based architect, Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, Inc. on the 127,000 s/f project, which broke ground in January 2006 and was completed on schedule this July. This is one of the largest new building developments Winthrop has experienced in recent years. HC Bailly, Principal, RCG LLC, credited Nauset Construction for its ability to overcome the challenges that arise during waterfront construction. "Nauset's expertise and attention to detail was impressive. The location of Atlantis Marina presented significant planning challenges and Nauset consistently provided solutions to issues arising due to the high water table and close proximity of the harbor as well as Logan International Airport. Additionally, they worked cooperatively with the appropriate Federal, State and Local agencies to keep the project on-schedule. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the building and the professionalism Nauset displayed throughout the construction process." "Spagnolo Gisness & Associates and Nauset Construction worked well together on the Atlantis Marina project, which created a synergy that allowed the entire project to flow. As project challenges surfaced, the contractors and designers teamed together to quickly overcome issues in order to maintain control of the project schedule and budget," said Bill Gisness, Principal, Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, Inc. -More- According to Anthony Papantonis, President of Nauset Construction, "The waterfront location of the facility was a key factor behind many of our decisions. We carefully planned every aspect of this project and implemented innovative solutions and forward thinking to deliver the highest quality building. Working closely with Spagnolo Gisness & Associates to provide a luxury living environment for the residents of Atlantis was a primary focus. We utilized triple pane windows to significantly reduce the sound from the airport and the facility was waterproofed to prevent damage from the salt water. This facility is a premiere multi-unit residence in Winthrop offering picturesque views and upscale amenities." The Residences at Atlantis Marina was built from the ground up using steel frame construction and conventional concrete footings and walls. Steel sheeting was used for earth retention in order to pour the foundations below the water table. The building's exterior façade features a blend of cementious siding and brick masonry. The Residences at Atlantis Marina is being recognized as the best in luxury waterfront living in Winthrop. Each residence boasts state-of-the-art amenities, including: gourmet kitchens, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, balconies with picturesque views, access to private deep water boat slips, and deeded garage parking. Common spaces include custom carpeting, recessed lighting, hardwood floors, and tile. Additional resident and guest amenities include a fitness room, yoga room, auditorium and a marina. Aside from the spectacular views of the harbor and Boston skyline, this new community is conveniently located near public transportation, Logan International Airport, and Routes 1A, I-93, and the I-90 Massachusetts Turnpike.
