DiGiorgio Assoc. and Monitor Builders break ground on 13,000 s/f medical project: Harrington Healthcare at Hubbard Emergency department

This past October, Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Remillard Family Emergency Department addition and renovation. DiGiorgio Associates Inc. (DAI) is serving as the architect and engineer and Monitor Builders Inc. (MBI) as the construction manager for this much needed expansion and renovation project. The Webster Emergency Department will be renamed the "Remillard Family Emergency Department" in thanks to the project's largest donor. The ED currently handles 12,000 cases a year - a number that is expected to rise to 15,000 in the next three years. This renovation and expansion will increase the number of beds from five to nine, increase the square footage from 3,000 to 13,000 s/f and will allow Harrington HealthCare System to accommodate the expected increase in patient traffic in the years to come. DiGiorgio designed the new emergency department to include a new registration area to accommodate more patients and improve patient flow with increased privacy and comfort, separate areas for psychiatric emergency service patients, a private family waiting area, and a new ambulance entrance, main entrance and lobby. The design and construction team worked with the town planning department to improve site conditions, traffic flow patterns and safety. The emergency department will include modified roadways for walk-in patients and visitors and a separate ambulance patient entrance. This project also includes significant mechanical and electrical infrastructure changes and upgrades. Construction on the emergency department is expected to be completed in the fall of 2014. DAI and MBI are proud to continue their long-standing affiliation with Harrington HealthCare on this project to help enhance their services and better serve the community.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
