Construction is progressing on 78,500 s/f Market Basket in Bedford: Pro Con, construction manager; Prellwitz/Chilinski, architect

Construction is progressing on schedule for the new 78,500 s/f Market Basket store located 539 Donald St. RMD Inc of Tewksbury, MA is the developer for Demoulas Super Markets Inc and the Market Basket stores. Prellwitz/Chilinski Associates Inc of Cambridge, is the project architect and Pro Con Inc of Manchester, N.H. is the construction manager for the project. "The interior mechanicals are currently being installed in preparation for the placement of the concrete slab," said the project manager for Pro Con Inc. "The exterior framing is complete, the roof is weather tight and the entire building will be enclosed by December. We continue to be on schedule for a spring 2013 completion date." The new store is located just off Rte. 114 and near the intersection of Rtes. 101 and 114. The store will feature a Market's Café, a Market's Kitchen, and an in-store bakery. Oversized store-front windows will allow natural light into the building and high efficiency lighting fixtures will illuminate the aisles. The building's exterior will feature Hardie plank siding and ground face block.
