“Pat’s dedication to his clients and passion for mentoring emerging estimators at CM&B have made him a rising star in the industry and on our team. With an unwavering commitment to the company, Pat drives positive organizational change while coaching and supporting others in their development. His success stems from his eternal optimism, always seeing the best in others.” - James Thomson, Senior Vice President/Estimating & PreConstruction Services at CM&B.

In the last 12 months what accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of growing my estimating capabilities through involvement in several complicated development projects, including a 10-acre site with approximately 50,000 s/f of buildings, a 52-acre site with approximately 300,000 s/f of buildings, and a 44-acre site with approximately 700,000 s/f of buildings. I’ve also had the opportunity to mentor our assistant estimators, assistant project managers, and assistant superintendents on technical aspects of construction and how to effectively read drawings.

Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? My fiancée, Haley, and my dad have been key to my success. Haley is also an estimator and is my go-to support person and voice of reason in any work discussions. My dad, a plumber for nearly 40 years, taught me the value of hard work. Growing up, I saw him put in the hours needed to deliver quality work, and I strive to carry that same work ethic in my career.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
