Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? Amongst many that have empowered me, under the guidance of my general superintendent at the time, I learned that asking, “What do you need from me?” was the key to success. I wondered why someone with so much experience and highly respected in the industry would ask this question. I concluded that asking questions does not make you the least knowledgeable in the room, but quite the contrary. As an expecting mother and project manager in this “male dominated industry” inserting yourself into the conversation or huddle even if its inquiring for your own knowledge will lead to great achievement.
