East Providence, RI University Orthopedics hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its most recent location at 1 Kettle Point Ave. The 90,000 s/f medical offices and surgery center offers the latest in orthopedic treatments.

Local dignitaries, as well as physicians and staff from University Orthopedics were on-hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony, where speakers delivered brief remarks. Tours of the facility were provided as guests enjoyed appetizers and refreshments on the building’s fourth floor overlooking the Providence River and skyline.

“It has been a long time in the making and we are pleased to add this state-of-the-art facility for our patients in the Southern New England area,” said Edward Akelman, M.D., president of University Orthopedics. “At University Orthopedics, we remain committed to enhancing the patient experience, and this innovative facility offers expanded access to the specialized care our patients deserve.”

Featuring professional design aesthetics, the new facility showcases Smart Building Technology integrated with the highest level of interior fit-out and finishes available in the market. Each suite is designed to reflect the particular needs of the orthopedic specialty area it serves.  An Ambulatory Surgical Center, diagnostic imaging (MRI, X-ray and EOS low radiation X-ray) and physical therapy/rehabilitation facilities feature prominently in the extensive scope of services offered.

Weber Shill, chief executive officer at University Orthopedics, praised the efforts of individuals and others that made the project possible. “We would like to thank Michael Integlia and Company, EW Burman, Washington Trust and NEMD Architects for turning this vision into a reality,” Shill said.  “We would also like to thank the city of East Providence and the Waterfront District Commission who have gone above and beyond to welcome University Orthopedics into the local business community.”
