Tighe & Bond receives ACEC/CT engineering excellence award

Tighe & Bond won praise for its role in recent traffic and roadway improvements that were integral to the Bridgeport Hospital Park Ave. Campus development. Those improvements addressed existing operational concerns, as well as accommodated the increased traffic generated by the new campus. The upgrade also has provided growth capacity along Park Ave. at the Merritt Parkway ramps (Exit 47) for future development along Park Ave. in Trumbull/Fairfield. The firm provided all aspects of traffic engineering, transportation planning, and roadway design. This included horizontal and vertical geometry, layout of a modern roundabout, drainage analysis and design, detailed grading, signing and pavement markings, as well as traffic signal design.
The Bridgeport Hospital Park Ave. Campus is a treatment facility, owned and operated by the Yale-New Haven Health network, which provides regional care for patients. The new campus is located at a previously existing medical office complex at 5520 Park Ave. in Trumbull and Bridgeport. The original complex consisted of 80,000 s/f of land use development, while the new one includes an additional 120,000 s/f, and a 600-space parking garage.
