The Fallon Company celebrates grand opening of 100 Northern Avenue

Boston, MA The Fallon Company marked another milestone at Fan Pier with the grand opening of 100 Northern Ave. - a 17-story glass tower, the fifth building to be completed at the 3 million s/f mixed-use neighborhood. Consisting of 516,000 s/f of waterfront commercial space, and 18,000 s/f ground-floor retail space, 100 Northern Ave. will house the founding office of leading Am Law 50 and  Global 50 Law Firm Goodwin Procter LLP, who will join leading companies such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Battery Ventures, Polaris Partners, Fish & Richardson, and EnerNOC when it relocates to Fan Pier. The firm will occupy 375,000 s/f in the building.

More than 400 members of Boston’s government, civic and business communities were on-site to commemorate the building’s opening during a private event, which featured remarks from mayor Martin Walsh, Mass. state representative Nick Collins, The Fallon Co. president and CEO Joseph Fallon, and Goodwin’s Boston office chair Andrew Sucoff, each of whom addressed Fan Pier’s pivotal role in ushering in a new era on Boston’s Seaport and the benefits of working on the waterfront.

To cap off the celebration, seven artists from BANDALOOP, a vertical dance company, performed a series of original dances featuring choreography and musical accompaniment on 100 Northern Ave.’s glass façade.

“The opening of 100 Northern Ave. represents an important milestone for commercial activity on Fan Pier,” said Joe Fallon. “An innovative and elegant performance by BANDALOOP was a fitting way to commemorate the occasion and celebrate the latest wave of progress for the Fan Pier community and the Waterfront as a whole.”

The Fan Pier neighborhood features 21 acres, spanning nine city blocks, and overlooks Boston’s active harbor. Fan Pier is comprised of residential and commercial buildings, upscale dining and retail offerings, engaging public parks, scenic Boston Harborwalk, and one of Boston’s largest private marinas.

“Boston’s waterfront is experiencing significant growth, with Fan Pier at the center of its transformation,” said mayor Walsh. “It has been wonderful to see over the past decade how the neighborhood has developed with new residencies, more businesses and an expanding retail sector. This project marks another milestone in the neighborhood’s transformation and it helps signify Boston’s emerging leadership in the global economy. I want to thank the Fallon Company for their ongoing investment in this neighborhood and I look forward to seeing Goodwin Procter continue to thrive in their new home.”

When complete, Fan Pier will feature a total of eight commercial and residential high rises; the dining, shopping and recreation; and myriad green spaces against the backdrop of Boston Harbor.

Goodwin Procter will officially move into its new office space at 100 Northern Ave. later this month.

“After more than 100 years at the corner of State and Congress Sts. in the Financial District, we are excited to be moving to Fan Pier, the crown jewel of Boston’s Innovation District and one of the city’s most exciting new neighborhoods,” said Sucoff. “100 Northern Ave. is the perfect location to affirm our commitment to Boston and to build for the future.”
