In 2023, my greatest achievement was teaching Modern Real Estate Transactions at New England School of Law, where I shared practical insights into commercial real estate law with upper-class students

What market trend has had the greatest impact on your industry this year? We closely follow the financial markets, because it is essential to have a good grasp on the course of the Fed’s monetary policy decisions and the reasoning behind them.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Rising interest rates have had the greatest impact on the commercial real estate industry over the past year. Owners don’t want to sell at lower prices and investors are shying away due to increased lending cost.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The greatest market trend that drove our business this year was actually a combination of rising interest rates, stabilization of inflation and federal infusion of capital into infrastructure.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The market trend that has had the biggest impact on our industry this year is the ongoing challenge to find skilled labor to perform the work.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Over the past twelve months, the multi-family market has remained quite strong. We still see solid activity in this market moving into next year.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2023? Through our internal credit-training program, we have promoted five portfolio managers across our footprint to commercial bankers. Two other commercial bankers have also been newly promoted to regional executives.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year?  The sale of 290 and 300 Binney by Boston Properties to Norges Bank signals that there still is confidence in Greater Boston’s life sciences sector despite current headwinds.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? In an ever-changing market, we are seeing a shift towards outsourced strategic marketing that is more all-encompassing. Firms that work with agencies who can combine branding, social media management, community relations and public relations

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The high volatility of price escalation experienced in 2021 and 2022 has generally normalized to more traditional escalation, and supply chain issues have also mostly stabilized.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? I challenged myself to grow/expand into adjacent markets to offer expanded security solutions to all our clients. Additionally, by focusing on the basics, territory growth becomes a reality.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Interest rates had a major impact on construction this year, indicating the FED’s success in curbing inflation. Unfortunately, this has led to a slowdown in work, stalling numerous projects.
