Savills Hospitality Group advised Loews Hotels & Resorts on the purchase of the Back Bay Hotel. Loews purchased the historic hotel from The Doyle Collection.
Loews Hotels plans an $8 million renovation, which is slated to begin in the fall.
The hotel features 225 guest rooms and is located on the corner of Berkeley and Stuart Sts., the building was originally constructed in the 1920s as the Boston Police Department headquarters and was used as such until the late 1990s. It was redeveloped in 2004.
"The acquisition of this historic property fits ideally into Loews' expansion plans," said Marc Magazine, managing director of the Savills Hospitality Group. "Loews was able to take advantage of our team's well-rounded knowledge and experience in the world of hotel investment."
