Robert Dow, president of Dow Realty Company in New Haven, died suddenly on February 9th in Killington, VT. He was 64.
Dow began his real estate career more than 37 years ago. His early career included work for Baker Properties as a regional development manager, and with the H. Pearce Company's commercial division. In 1981 he left Pearce to form Dow Realty Company. Dow became one of the most respected commercial brokers in greater New Haven through his straight forward, honest approach and ability to creatively put a deal together. Dow's brokerage business specializes in commercial, industrial, and office properties. Dow was responsible for many redevelopment projects including the Yale Boathouse and also ran a commercial property management business. His son, Jeff continues to operate the
Dow Realty Co.; carrying on his father's legacy.
Dow was a graduate of Hopkins Grammar School and Duke University where he played varsity football and studied engineering. He later served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including one year as a platoon leader and commander in South Vietnam.
Dow was a vigorous advocate for Greater New Haven and was active in many organizations.
