RMS Companies secures approval for mixed-use development in Norwalk, CT

Norwalk, CT Real estate development firm RMS Companies has received unanimous approval of its mixed-use development project. Local residents and officials have welcomed the project’s potential to revitalize the West Ave. area, which has long awaited redevelopment. Located at the former YMCA site on West Ave., this development will include more than 200 studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, amenity spaces, and a first-floor restaurant. The plan will also include 10% affordable housing units.

Randy Salvatore, owner of RMS Companies, said, “We are truly excited about this opportunity to contribute to the Norwalk community. This project represents our commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable spaces that enhance the quality of life for residents.”

Commissioner Richard Roina commended RMS Companies for their previous successful projects in the city, expressing confidence in the company’s ability to deliver another exceptional development.

“I really feel like we’re fortunate to have some of the developers with the pockets that they have that they can start and finish a project,” said Roina. “Mr. Salvatore gave us a little history of what he’s done in Norwalk, and I’m happy to have him here. I think he’s going to do a great job on this.”

Architect Luz Rosado emphasized the project’s commitment to workforce housing by integrating a two-story unit on the ground floor and promoting an equitable distribution of housing options within the building.

The development will also feature an underground water retention system and a hydrodynamic separator to enhance stormwater management and solidify the project’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

RMS Companies looks forward to breaking ground on this transformative development, further enriching the city’s West Ave. neighborhood and demonstrating its commitment to sustainable and community-focused real estate projects.
