Back in 2005 when the Rhode Island EDC spun off the Quonset Development Corp. (QDC) into its own quasi-public agency, there were thousands of details to manage. Looking back, it's pretty amazing how smoothly it all went. But one detail that did get missed was registering the right web address. Luckily, QDC has great partners.
While QDC used an address (qdcri.com) that was the product of its government roots, Karla Driscoll was thinking like the savvy marketer that has made her such a success as executive director of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. She secured the more people- and search-engine-optimization-friendly URL http://quonset.com/. Then she donated it to the Quonset Development Corp., reflecting the spirit of partnership between the NK Chamber and the QDC.
