PROCON nears completion of Staybridge Suites/Holiday Inn

Quincy, MA PROCON is in the final months of construction on an 89,000 s/f Staybridge Suites/Holiday Inn Express. Upon completion, it will be the company’s third dual-branded hotel in the Greater Boston area in less than two years. PROCON is the designer and construction manager, and XSS Hotels collaborated with the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) on the five-story project. The hotel’s One Arlington St. location is directly across from the MBTA’s North Quincy Station.

A total of 180-guestrooms will be equally divided between the Staybridge Suites and Holiday Inn Express. Staybridge Suites is an extended-stay hotel targeting long-term customers with studio units featuring kitchenettes complete with a sink, cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, and a refrigerator.  The Holiday Inn Express is aimed at shorter-staying customers seeking comfort, convenience, and affordability. Each brand offers a complimentary breakfast and internet service.

Part of the excitement about showcasing two established brands is the blended amenities. All guests will enjoy a stylish reception, lounge and bar, a buffet breakfast area with seating, a guest dining room, 24/7 Pantry, and gathering spaces for socializing. The design also includes a fitness room, a 24-hour business center, a guest laundry room, and two meeting rooms.

“We really look forward to rolling out this dual-branded hotel so close to Boston. It is a marvelous opportunity to offer our guests more options, the best of both brands, and always with the goal of providing them the finest possible guest experience” said Mark Stebbins, one of the owners of XSS Hotels.

PROCON’s vice president of architecture Kent Beirne commented on his design team’s work. “It is a beautifully furnished hotel with custom millwork focal walls to provide intimate gathering spaces with soft seating and a fireplace. We included a multifunctional dining and lounge area with a full bar to enable flex-seating for breakfast rushes, and evening social gatherings.”

As the hotel’s façade nears completion, the project team has turned its attention to the interior finishes. Flooring, wall covering and painting are in progress with the installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment up next.

As the historic home of Presidents’ John Adams and John Quincy Adams, Quincy is also known as the nation’s oldest presidential birthplace. As such, guests will have a rich assortment of American history right at their fingertips. When they are not soaking in the local antiquity, guests with IHG Rewards memberships will be able to enjoy additional perks and benefits as part of the IHG Rewards Club.

All in all, this is XSS Hotels and PROCON’s second collaboration with IHG in recent times. In fall 2018, the company completed IHG’s first new Holiday Inn in the Greater Boston area in more than 20 years. Looking ahead, PROCON and XSS Hotels have additional dual-branded hotels in their pipeline for the Greater Boston, and New York metropolitan area. The Quincy-based Staybridge Suites/Holiday Inn Express will open for business in late spring 2019.
