PROCON honored with 2017 ABC NH/VT Excellence in Construction awards

Residence Inn by Marriott - Watertown, MA

Brightview Senior Living Community - Canton, MA

Bedford, NH On the evening of October 26, 2017, PROCON took home two Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC NH/VT) Excellence in Construction awards for its projects. A/E/C industry professionals from throughout the region gathered at the Manchester Country Club for the celebration. This event is the construction industry’s premier annual awards program that recognizes the most challenging and safest construction projects in the region. PROCON was recognized for Brightview Senior Living Community and the Residence Inn by Marriott.

The opening of Residence Inn Boston/Watertown, was a welcomed addition to a city whose last new hotel opened over 50 years ago. Owner, Boylston Properties teamed up with PROCON for the first time by selecting them as the construction manager. PROCON worked closely with project designer Stantec Architecture (a/k/a ADD Inc.), to take their design from concept to an upscale 108,000 s/f, 150-room hotel. Their efforts paid off – the Residence Inn won an Excellence in Construction award in the “Commercial Over $10 Million” category and also collected a “Sustainability Award” for its LEED Silver design and construction. Watertown’s newest hotel provides the city with its first extended-stay, all-suite accommodations, complete with fully-equipped kitchens and proximity to Boston.

PROCON co-president Lance Bennett accepted the award and expressed his gratitude to the Boylston Properties leadership team principals William McQuillan and Mark Deschenes and their construction project manager Alejandro Miranda. He said, “This was a wonderful example of when a construction-savvy owner brings their design and construction team together early in the process.” He also thanked Stantec Architecture, the PROCON project team, and subcontractors who worked together overcoming every challenge to make the project a success.

PROCON earned an Excellence in Construction award in the “Design/Build” category for Brightview Senior Living Community in Canton, Mass. PROCON collaborated with longtime partner, Shelter Development to design and build the 160-apartment senior living community. The building’s elegant architectural design added a “Victorian touch” to the neighborhood. At 167,000 s/f, it features “resort style” living with amenities for older adults and is 30 minutes from Boston.

Brightview Canton was the eighth collaboration between PROCON and Shelter Development who have worked together on senior living communities since 2008. “Our thanks to the Shelter Group for their confidence in and partnership with us on Brightview Senior Living Canton. This is our eighth project with the Shelter Group and they have been amazing to work with,” said project executive Mike Callahan. He went on to thank PROCON’s project team for their hard work, crediting them with the successful and early completion of the hotel.

The annual ABC event is one of the premier competitions in the building and construction industry, showcasing and recognizing outstanding construction projects throughout the region. A cross-section panel of judges representing owners, architects, and planners selects the winners in several categories.

Awards are based on remarkable achievements in leadership, safety, innovation and diversity.
