Springfield, MA According to Peabody Properties, Memorial Sq. Apartments (managed by Peabody Properties), at 2295 Main St., was selected for a Preservation Award by the Springfield Preservation Trust (SPT). The award ceremony was held on May 16 at Tower Sq.
The Preservation Award is dedicated to the spirit of recognition of the essentials of preservation and their application to the city’s inventory of historic homes and other buildings. Each year the SPT recognizes citizens for maintaining and restoring buildings that reflect the community’s architectural and cultural heritage. The SPT presented Memorial Sq. Apartments a Preservation Award in recognition of general restoration.
“We are so pleased to see that Memorial Sq. was recognized by the Springfield Preservation Trust,” said John McKee, regional operations director for Peabody Properties. “We are truly proud of the project’s success and all that the owners (New England Farm Workers’ Council) have accomplished for this historic property. Springfield is a special community, and we feel a responsibility to ensure that Memorial Square Apartments reflects that – for the benefits of the residents, and community neighbors.”
“Being recognized is a true honor and especially gratifying, given the extensive nature of this rehabilitation; renovations that fit with the historic character of this Springfield neighborhood – celebrating Memorial Square’s future while at the same time honoring the past,” said Heriberto Flores, managing partner of the ownership behind Memorial Sq. Apartments and chairman and CEO of the New England Farm Workers’ Council.
