Pawtucket and Central Falls to celebrate their restaurants - by Donald Grebien

Donald Grebien,
Mayor of Pawtucket

It’s just around the corner...The City of Pawtucket and Central Falls’ Restaurant Weeks showcases both cities’ culinary delights. Central Fall’s week-long event will take place from August 27th to September 2nd followed by Pawtucket’s Restaurant Week from September 3rd to September 9th.

In 2017, 33 restaurants participated in Pawtucket’s event and we estimate that close to 1,000 people patronized these restaurants as part of Restaurant Week. Pawtucket’s week-long event provided the city with an opportunity to draw awareness to our restaurant scene, both inside and outside of the city, as well as market Pawtucket as a destination.

Residents and visitors throughout the state and region will be able to experience a variety of cuisine specials at over 30 locations in Pawtucket and over 20 in Central Falls. Both cities are known for their diverse restaurant scenes which includes cuisine from America, Central America, Venezuela, Portugal, Cape Verde, Vietnam and Colombia.

Prices for Restaurant Week have been set for both cities. Both cities’ restaurants will offer breakfast and lunch at $7.99; Pawtucket restaurants will offer dinner options at $14.99, and Central Falls will offer dinner options at $9.99.

The two cities have worked together through the Pawtucket Central Falls Restaurant Week committee which was represented by Pawtucket, Central Falls, Navigant Credit Union, the Pawtucket Foundation and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council. The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce has also been a strong supporter.

Pawtucket Restaurant Week is a collaboration with neighboring Central Falls and is another example of how two cities working together can promote the Blackstone Valley and its diverse culture as they focus on the different flavors and cuisines each has to offer.

Pawtucket’s Restaurant Week coincides with the 20th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors. Residents and visitors can attend a gallery event or concert or grab a bite to eat at one of the participating restaurants. Diners who order a special menu item during Restaurant Week will be entered into a raffle to win a restaurant gift card from a participating restaurant.

Small businesses are the backbone of our great city and our growing restaurant scene is a big part of that. I invite every reader of the New England Real Estate Journal to join us for Restaurant Week this September and experience Pawtucket’s evolution for themselves!

The site (restaurantweekpcf.com) will serve as the central hub for both cities.

Donald Grebien is mayor of the City of Pawtucket.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
