Fall River, MA NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) has opened its newest location at 139 South Main St.

The opening was made official at a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by mayor Paul Coogan, state representatives Carole Fiola and Alan Silvia, Michael Williams of NeighborWorks America, and staff members from the office of congressman Jake Auchincloss.

The new office is part NeighborWorks Housing Solutions’ strategic plan, according to CEO Robert Corley. The new office will serve as the in-person location for those facing a housing crisis in the city and surrounding communities.

“Nothing can replace being in person with someone when they’re in need,” said Corley at the ribbon-cutting, noting the new office’s convenient location a mere block from town government buildings and on the same floor as MassHire Fall River Career Center. “It took a lot of work to get to this day, but the time is right, the need is high, and we’re here to serve.”

Mayor Coogan welcomed NHS to the Fall River community, saying “NHS will help us with a large housing issue.”

That sentiment was echoed by Rep. Silvia who said, “Safe affordable housing is of the utmost importance and the most serious problem we face. Every day, 95% of calls and visits to our office are people looking for housing. As much as we are able to assist, sometimes we reach dead ends, but we now have a new avenue of assistance with NeighborWorks Housing Solutions as part of the Fall River community.”
