National R.E. Investor ranks CB Richard Ellis #1 property manager

For the sixth year in a row, National Real Estate Investor, the leading magazine for professional real estate investors, has ranked CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) number 1 out of the world's top 25 property managers. The ranking, featured in the publication's July/August issue, is based on the total amount of space under management globally as of December 31st, 2008. CBRE was responsible for the management of 2.2 billion s/f of property and corporate facilities at the end of 2008. That total was nearly twice the amount of total space managed by the firm's nearest competitor. CBRE also remains the market leader in New England, managing over 26 million s/f throughout the region—more than any other competing property management firm in New England. "Property owners trust CBRE to deliver best-in-class management of their real estate needs," said Mark Tassinari, executive vice president/partner and head of CBRE/New England's property management division. "Across New England, our clients know that the industry's best professionals and strongest global platform will help them to effectively manage and enhance the value of their real estate assets." Earlier this year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) named CB Richard Ellis an Energy Star Partner of the Year, the only commercial real estate services firm recognized with that award this year, and the second year in a row that the company has received that honor. More than 1,200 CBRE-managed buildings are participating in the program, significantly more than any other third-party management company. CBRE/New England property management, the winner of 10 BOMA Building of the Year Awards in 2008, employs more than 190 property management professionals throughout the New England region. The group has been ranked #1 by the Boston Business Journal for the past 12 years and was recently recognized by Banker & Tradesman as the #1 Property Management firm in New England.

Recently passed legislation creates opportunities to meet CT’s changing energy needs - by Klein and Feinn

For decades, New England has had a summer-peaking power system, where the greatest energy use occurs on the hottest and most humid days, due to widespread use of air conditioning. But by the mid-2030s, electrification of the heating sector likely will result in a winter peak that’s higher than the summer peak.
