Moakley Building at Boston Medical Center earns national healthcare award; designed by TK&A

The Moakley Building at Boston Medical Center has won first place in the Ambulatory Care Facilities category of the 2007 Contract Magazine/The Center for Health Design Healthcare Environment Awards Competition. The 134,000 s/f consolidated cancer care center on Harrison Ave., which opened in September 2006, was designed by Tsoi/Kobus & Associates (TK&A) . The national Healthcare Environment Awards are given annually and recognize innovative, evidence-based design that contributes to the quality of healthcare. Projects are judged on how well they demonstrate a partnership between the client and design professional and on the effectiveness of interior spaces in supporting a healing environment. The Moakley Building is featured along with other award winners in Contract Magazine's October issue and was formally recognized at the Healthcare Design '07 Conference, sponsored by the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health, the Center for Health Design and the Vendome Group, on November 3-6 in Dallas.
