Konover Construction Corp. recognized for wellness program
Konover Construction Corporation (KCC) received the 2008 Workforce Wellness Award from the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce for its robust wellness program. The chamber's health care committee established the award to recognize organizations that have incorporated a wellness component into their work culture.
"We have a wellness committee that meets monthly to plan events and identify ways to improve wellness at KCC," said Carla Getz, a human resources manager with KCC and a member of the wellness committee.
Some elements of the KCC wellness initiative includes weekly wellness topics distributed electronically to all associates, bi-weekly health education programs, an on-site fitness facility, healthy selection of snacks in the firm's vending machines and replacing the monthly birthday cake with gift cards.
"We value our associates and their well-being whether at work or at home," said KCC president Mike Kolakowski. "We want to have the healthiest workforce in the industry and are off to a great start with the wonderful initiatives put in place by the committee."
