Jewett Construction Company, Inc. assembles track for Pinewood Derby

Raymond, NH Jewett Construction Company, Inc. continued its longtime support of the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America, by donating labor to assemble the track for this year’s Pinewood Derby–part of the BSA’s 2015 New Hampshire State Jamboree guest-hosted by New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Jewett team members Dave Martel, Carl Cooper and Tim Holt spent several days assembling the half-mile track–certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest Pinewood Derby track ever built. This year’s Jamboree was also the largest the Daniel Webster Council has held, with more than 4,500 scouts and their families from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Canada attending a full schedule of scouting activities, including racing their six-inch wooden kit-built cars into the record books.

“Community involvement is one of the hallmarks of our company,” said Steve Harris, Jewett’s executive vice president and a current member of the Daniel Webster Council Board of Directors. “Our longstanding partnership with the BSA allows us to give back in a way that helps build character in the younger generation.”

Jewett’s involvement with the BSA includes the construction of the Camp Carpenter dining Hall in Manchester, NH, and heading up the Jewett Golf Classic fundraiser to benefit the BSA for a number of years. Company president Craig Jewett is also a former member of the board.

Jewett Construction, an official Butler Builder, is a family-owned design-build/construction management firm specializing in automotive, commercial and industrial projects throughout the Northeast. Its clients include such well-known organizations as The Herb Chambers Companies, The Bean Group, Kennebunk Savings Bank, and the Exeter Area YMCA.
