Candice Morse, Thayer & Assoc. Candice Morse, Thayer & Assoc.

I am very pleased to provide this positive report of 1st quarter activity for the Boston Chapter of IREM. In an effort to improve community outreach, the chapter is in collaboration the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and will participate in the JDRF walk in Boston, on Saturday, October 1. Please watch for more on how you can join Team IREM and support this wonderful organization. JDRF is the only global diabetes foundation with a strategic plan to end type 1 diabetes (T1D).

The executive committee congratulates a second IREM Foundation scholarship recipient. Crystal Squires of The Simon Co. was a recent chapter recipient of the IREM Foundation Donald M. Furbush CPM Scholarship. We congratulate Crystal on her accomplishments and look forward to seeing her achieve her CPM designation.

The Friends of IREM Committee recently hosted a well attended networking event at the Point located in Faneuil Hall on March 24. Attendees enjoyed a cocktail hour with appetizers and good conversation! The Friends of IREM Committee, led by Maria Benway of Service Master by Gilmore, continues to plan new and exciting networking opportunities for the membership. We look forward to seeing members at our upcoming tour of the Massachusetts Statehouse on May 5.

The Boston Chapter is also underway planning for the annual Legislative & Leadership Summit in Washington D.C. on April 13, IREM members will travel to Capitol Hill for a series of meetings that take place throughout the day. The Legislative Committee has been hard at work confirming at least five meetings with U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators.

The Executive Committee is currently vetting candidates to receive this year’s Women of Achievement in Real Estate award which will be presented at the December holiday meeting on December 8. The board will gladly consider nominations from the membership. If you have a candidate that you would like to be considered for this important award, please contact me by April 30.
