IREM President’s message August: 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Melissa Fish-Crane

As I talked about last month, nothing really replaces the feel of an in-person event, and coming up next month is our organization’s biggest event of the year – our 23rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament, being held at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy on September 13th.

Granite Links features a championship course just outside the city. Link courses are known to be sparse of trees and rich in wind, and Granite Links is no exception! With 27 championship holes, their courses utilize a variety of styles to create a dynamic golf experience.

This is an event I look forward to every year regardless, but this year in particular I can’t wait to get out on the course. In addition to the beautiful vistas and natural surroundings, the change of pace from the usual workday offers a great chance to meet new people and catch up with others whom I haven’t seen in weeks or months. In this more casual setting, I find that relationships are really deepened, providing a new layer of understanding and shared experiences that can go a long way toward better professional interactions.

In addition to networking, our tournament this year features a slew of raffle prizes, hole contests, air cannons, longest drive and closest to pin awards, cornhole, a golf clinic, music, silent auction, and an awards program! Certainly any sponsorships or contributions to our silent auction or raffle prize table are welcome – email iremboston@iremboston.com for more information.

A portion of our proceeds go right back to our local chapter in support of our education and scholarship funds. Additionally, this year we’re supporting the IREM Foundation, which provides access to education and resources that assist those in the real estate management profession throughout the country.

We feel that this kind of support is vital for the betterment of our industry, and reflects our mission. We want to attract professionals to the property management industry who both care and understand that the role they play in their job has a great impact on their community, and we want to make sure that all of our members have opportunities to further expand their knowledge and develop their skills through the education we provide, without feeling any financial hardship for pursuing these opportunities. The financial contributions generated from our annual charity golf tournament ensure that these opportunities are indeed available for everyone.

Don’t miss your opportunity to play and network, and support a great cause in the process! See you on the links on September 13th!

Melissa Fish-Crane is the 2021 president of IREM Boston and principal & COO at the Peabody Properties.
