IFMA Boston raising critical funds to help close the FM talent gap - by Joy Shapiro

Boston, MA This year’s IFMA Boston Giving Thanks Giving Back Gala is going virtual with an online silent auction, big prize raffle and culminating reveal event on November 19th to raise funds for their scholarship fund. The online auction will include 2021 sports tickets, DIY gift certificates, sporting goods, restaurant gift cards, home office equipment, AV/stereo equipment, artwork and so much more! The raffle will include items to create your own home office suite!

The silent auction will open on November 12th online and will run until 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 19th. The closing of the auction and the raffle pull will occur at a reveal event from 4:30-5:00 PM on November 19th to culminate the entire fundraiser. The event will include celebrity guests, holiday surprises, networking, door prizes and more!

Each year the Chapter awards $5,000-$10,000 in scholarship funds for students attending local Facility Management programs. This is just one of many efforts the Chapter is engaged in to help close the Facility Management talent gap. Each year the number of FMs retiring from the industry well outnumbers the new FM graduates entering the workforce. IFMA Boston is dedicated to technical high school outreach to promote FM as a profession and help raise awareness to the educational opportunities within our community. Your support in these efforts is greatly appreciated!

There are four easy ways to support the Giving Thanks Giving Back Gala:

1. Donate a product to the silent auction and/or raffle. Everyone is working from home and could use your amazing products to support them in their work. Looking for ergonomic supports/products, chairs, lighting, sit/stand adapters and desks, noise canceling products, area rugs, art work, and more!

2. Donate a gift card to the silent auction and/or raffle. This is an amazing opportunity to give back to your local restaurants and businesses. Get creative! What do people crave in 2020--DIY gift cards, sporting goods stores and equipment, meal delivery, foursomes, and other outdoor activities/adventures. And what about the 2021 Red Sox season ticket holders!!

3. Provide a monetary donation directly to the fund. Don’t have products, gift cards or tickets to donate? That’s okay, we would love for you to provide a monetary donation in any amount directly to our fund!

4. Attend our reveal event on November 19th, buy a raffle, and bid on our silent auction items! Attend our reveal event on the 19th from 4:30-5:00 PM for all of our holiday fun! We have celebrity guests, holiday surprises and a great time to bid up the silent auction, buy a raffle, and/or make a donation.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
