IFMA Boston members attend Light the Night Walk - Oct. 20

Boston, MA During the Light The Night Walk, IFMA members Andrew Verderame, sales manager at Schneider Electric and director of IFMA community action committee and Diane Firestone, of Johnson Architectural Products and IFMA community action committee member walked together holding illuminated lanterns. The evening included music, food, and family festivities. This year’s walk was held on Thursday, October 20, on the Boston Common. Festivities began at 5:00 p.m. and the walk at 7:00 p.m. The local media sponsor was WCVB-TV Channel 5.

“There are so many people who need our help,” said Sharon Klein, executive director of the Massachusetts Chapter, serving MA, ME, NH & RI. “We are grateful to the volunteers who are lending their support this year and hope that others will join us to make this year’s Walk a success.”

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societ (LLS) is one of the world’s largest voluntary health agency’s dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care. Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Rye Brook, NY, LLS has chapters throughout the United States and Canada.

IFMA Boston also recently hosted an event called Log Me In-To the Future on October 27 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at LogMeIn offices at 333 Summer St. A lecture on how the project team collaborated on the design, construction, and fit-out of this dynamic office space that spans five floors in one of the city’s fastest growing areas.

With its headquarters located in the city’s innovative Seaport district, the software firm LogMeIn has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to collaborative space. The international firm has doubled its footprint with the addition of 117,000 s/f of office space within an early 20th Century, former textile mill building at 333 Summer St. LogMeIn’s unique fit-out preserves the building’s historic brick-and-beam feel while adding modern office design and amenities to foster high energy collaboration. The traditional vs. contemporary features are perfectly balanced and can be seen throughout the conference rooms, soft-seating areas, barista-staffed café, and half-basketball court.

The industrial markets have never been stronger. What has happened is that the build out of Devens with new high-tech biotech manufacturing with housing to service these buildings serves as the connector required to really make the I-495 West market sizzle. Worcester has been the beneficiary
