IFMA Boston Hosts 4th Annual FMForward at Bentley University

Waltham, MA After two years of hosting virtual four-day FMForward summits during the pandemic, the members of IFMA Boston came together live and in person for a day of FM rich content at Bentley University. The morning kicked off with small group sessions including:

• Carbon Neutral–Understanding the New Energy Standards;

• Soothing Your Supply Chain Headaches with Prefab Construction;

• Workplace Safety: Insights for Better Policies & Procedures;

• Feel Like a Fraud? How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome, and;

• Need a Nap? How Rest & Recovery Can Give You a Competitive Advantage at Work.

Zack Grenier, a junior at Wentworth Institute
of Technology was this year’s scholarship recipient.

 

Craig Lizotte of MathWorks was another
of the Excellence in FM award winners.

 

Tom Murphy of Amundi Asset Management
was one of the Excellence in FM award winners.

 

Richard Christiano, CFM of Wentworth Institute
of Technology received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

 

The group then gathered in the Executive Dining Room for the 19th Annual Awards of Excellence kicked off by a keynote address by Steve Weikal of the MiT Center for Real Estate where he shared an amazing look at where facilities and real estate technology is going. The awards were then conveyed to this year’s winners:

After the awards concluded, the group was treated to three TechTalks. Each talk is 20 minutes long and is an opportunity for an individual or pair of presenters to illustrate a challenge, solution and impact of an FM topic. This year’s tech talks included:

• How Radcliffe Rehabbed Its Open Loop Geothermal Wells

• Case Study: Fault Detection & Diagnostics at MathWorks

• The Evolving Workplace: How That Phrase Has Changed Since 2020 & What It Means for FMs with Kelly Colon of Allsteel

The day then concluded with a heated battle of cornhole with a tournament on the lawn. The competition was stiff, but in the end it was won by Chris Pestana of CBRE and Athene Sirivallop of Harvard University!
