Healey tours IBEW Local 103 Training Center

Attorney general Maura Healey speaks to a classroom of IBEW Local 103 apprentices

Dorchester, MA Massachusetts attorney general Maura Healey visited the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 103’s campus to tour the union’s state-of-the-art apprentice training facility and to meet with union leadership and apprentices about their priorities going into this election season. The visit follows Local 103’s recent endorsement of Healey’s bid for governor, which the union proudly displayed on its “iconic” digital billboard on I-93.

“I’ve been proud to stand with IBEW Local 103 members as attorney general in the push for stronger apprenticeship diversity, workforce development and supporting paid leave, workplace safety, and offshore wind,” said Healey. “I’m honored now to receive their endorsement in my campaign for governor. Together, we will continue our partnership to advance protections for workers, expand job training, and build an economy in which every family can thrive.”

IBEW Local 103 was among the first unions to publicly endorse Healey.

and it is one of the fastest-growing unions in Massachusetts and the nation, with a politically-engaged membership of 8,500 active members and 2,500 retirees. Its capacity for vast grassroots mobilization of voters has made its endorsement among the most sought-after in Massachusetts.

“Maura Healey has been a strong advocate for working people for a long time and she has proven that she can take on tough fights and win for our communities and our members. She shares our core values of economic justice and equality and she has worked hard to advance those values. She knows our issues, she fights for our issues and she delivers on those issues! We are proud to endorse her for governor and will work very hard to see to it that she wins in November. We are grateful that she took the time to visit our union’s training center and meet with many of our apprentices today,” said IBEW Local 103 Business Manager/Financial Secretary Lou Antonellis.

As attorney general, Healey has fought to combat wage theft – a huge priority for Boston’s labor unions – and to hold corporations legally accountable to the workers and communities they rely on. Her efforts earned the favor of IBEW Local 103.

“I really appreciate that the attorney general took the time to come meet with us and to hear about our experiences and our hopes for Massachusetts,” said 4th year IBEW Local 103 electrical apprentice, Jennifer McLarnon. “I can’t wait to see her as Massachusetts’ first, elected female governor.”
