Griffin Electric provides electrical installation for Peabody Essex

Salem, MA Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric), is currently providing the electrical installation work for the Peabody Essex Museum expansion and enabling projects.

The 40,000 s/f addition to the museum features 15,000 s/f of galleries, a light-filled atrium, entrance for school and group tours, links to existing galleries and a new garden. The new façade was designed to complement East India Marine Hall, the museum’s first building and historical landmark.

Griffin Electric’s on-site services include select demolition and generator distribution upgrades along with fire alarm enhancements to support the expansion phase. Additionally, the Griffin team is contracted to replace the existing electrical feeder services, install an extensive lighting system, audio/visual system, power throughout and enabling for fire alarm systems. Griffin has an ongoing relationship with the Peabody Essex Museum, providing the electrical installation services for several projects within the facility from 1999 to present, including new construction, renovation and restoration projects.

General contractor Turner Construction Co. is overseeing the project, working directly with ENNEAD Architects, LLP of New York, NY, and electrical engineering firm Altieri Sebor Wieber LLC of Norwalk, CT.

The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2019, and will offer additional space to share works from the museum’s finest art collections.
