Give Moor Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit South Shore Habitat for Humanity May 13

Boston, MA Moor Realty Group is raising money for a local family with its inaugural Give Moor Charity Golf Tournament, which will directly benefit South Shore Habitat for Humanity. The May 13 event will help build a home for Erin, a single mother of a 12-year-old son, who works as an assistant manager for a local bank, but struggles to keep up with rising rent prices and inflation.

“This year, Erin’s rent increased 12%, and she worries every night how she’s going to keep food on the table, the lights on, and a safe roof over their heads,” said Mike Falotico of Moor Realty Group, who hatched the event. “We did a build day with South Shore Habitat for Humanity and fell in love with their mission of giving someone a place to call home, so we decided to host a golf tournament, which has grown into quite the first-class affair.”

The Give Moor Golf Tournament will take place at Blue Hill Country Club, located at 23 Pecunit Street in Canton, with registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. In addition to Hole-In-One Prizes that include a BMW X2 courtesy of BMW of Norwood, tickets to the Master’s Tournament, and $10,000 cash, as well as raffle prizes and a silent auction, the tournament will offer delectable eats and drinks. Registration includes a box lunch and cocktail hour before dinner and awards, which will also feature Beth Lyons, Executive Director of South Shore Habitat for Humanity.

“Erin wants stability for her son and to provide him with opportunities she would not be able to provide on her own,” added Lyons. “A Habitat home in Cohasset will offer them both life-changing opportunities – her son will be able to attend a top-rated school system providing more educational opportunities, she’ll be able to save for the future, and she’ll be able to sleep better at night knowing that the future is brighter.”

Founded in 1986, South Shore Habitat for Humanity has delivered 65 homes in 22 communities with a mission to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter by partnering with families in need of affordable housing. Originally started in Norwell as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, South Shore Habitat serves 32 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston. It is thanks to support like the Give Moor Golf Tournament along with generous donors, devoted volunteers, corporations, foundations, staff, and local communities, that South Shore Habitat is able to build homes and change lives.

Current sponsors of the Give Moor Golf Tournament include Moor Realty Group, Bank of Canton, and Renovo Financial: Shaughnessy Lending Team. Registration and additional details on becoming a sponsor are available at www.givemoor.com.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
