First Realty Management adds two properties to managed portfolio

Whittemore Mills, 21 Linden Street - Quincy, MA

Quincy, MA First Realty Management Corp. has added two condominium associations to its portfolio with the addition of The Village at Mount Hope Bay in Tiverton, R.I., and Whittemore Mills in Quincy.

The Village at Mount Hope Bay is a 206-unit waterfront townhouse community. The property is near the natural confluence of several waterways including the Taunton and Providence Rivers that flow into Mount Hope Bay and the adjoining Narragansett Bay respectively. The Mount Hope Bay suspension bridge nearby provides the community with a scenic backdrop.

The over 55 community includes a club house for community gatherings (curtailed presently because of the Covid pandemic), an outdoor pool, fitness center, tennis courts, and is close to walking trails throughout natural habitat that in some areas lead down to the water’s edge.

Whittemore Mills is a 100-unit condominium association located at 21 Linden St. The mill was built in 1874 as a shoe machinery factory and it has had many uses over the years before it was converted to its present residential use in 1987.

The original brick Whittemore Mill and several similar buildings later erected across Linden Street are a fine example of industrial architecture of the third quarter of the 19th century which was characterized by segmental arched windows, brick articulated walls, flat roofs and decorative details. The architecture style of long expanses interrupted by projected brick piers that separate sections of the building’s exterior creates a formidable view of rhythmical repetition of vertical elements, reminiscent of the textile mills in Lawrence, Lowell, and other New England sites.

The ornate multi-story mill building is located a short distance from the Wollaston stop on the MBTA Red Line. The property boasts a mix of two and three-bedroom units, high ceilings and skylights that allow natural light to fill residential spaces, and a large off-street parking lot.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
