Environments at Work chosen to supply furniture for Shire Pharmaceuticals

Environments at Work, one of the city's newest office furniture dealer, has been chosen to supply all of the furniture for Shire Pharmaceuticals new facilities in Lexington, Mass. A global specialty biopharmaceutical company, Shire has plans to relocate employees to that location over the next four years. Environments at Work provided furniture components for 141 workstations, 10 executive and 76 private offices, 10 conference rooms and 15 public spaces, including a custom desk for the lobby/reception area. The design challenge was to introduce a new workstation standard with a smaller footprint while providing adequate work surface and storage. By working closely with the Shire facilities group, Environments at Work developed a new plan that can be easily adopted in the field to accommodate different user groups with collaborative and storage intensive functions.  The result is a consistent look throughout the facility with a minimal kit of parts, allowing for easy reconfigurations. Shire selected the Haworth Compose System for its workstations. Chosen for flexibility and design freedom, Compose allows modular planning for different workstation applications. Since more than 43% of the materials content is recycled, Shire's goals were met through an affordable, recycled product that offers strength and flexibility.
