Eleven of Jones Lang LaSalle's properties in Mass. earn EPA's Energy Star Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized the top performing buildings by awarding its Energy Star, the national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Eleven properties managed by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in New England earned the honor. They are: 99 High St., 73 Tremont St., and One Financial Center in Boston; 2 Canal Park and One Charles Park in Cambridge; One Newton Place in Newton; 55 Hayden Ave. in Lexington; One Research Dr., 110 Westboro Executive Park, 112 Westboro Executive Park, and 114 Westboro Executive Park in Westborough. JLL was recently named 2010 Energy Partner of the Year for its accomplishments in achieving significant energy and financial savings through energy management programs on behalf of clients and across the company. An Energy Star partner since 1998, the firm was first named Partner of the Year in 2007. EPA's Energy Star signifies that the building performs in the top 25% in energy performance nationwide. Commercial buildings that earn the symbol use an average of 35% less energy than typical buildings, and release 35% less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. "Improving the energy efficiency of our nation's buildings is critical to preserving our environment and natural resources," said Jean Lupinacci, chief of the Energy Star commercial and industrial branch. "From the boiler room to the board room, organizations are leading the way by making their buildings more efficient and earning EPA's Energy Star." "Our long-term partnership with Energy Star helped us save our clients more than $100 million in energy costs and reduce greenhouse gases by 465,000 tons," said Dan Ozelius, senior vice president of JLL. "As an increasing number of states and cities mandate energy performance, this is a vital part of our service delivery." About Energy Star Energy Star was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, Energy Staroffers businesses and consumers energy-efficient solutions to save energy, money and help protect the environment for future generations. More than 17,000 organizations are Energy Star partners committed to improving the energy efficiency of products, homes, buildings and businesses. In 2009, Americans with the help of Energy Star saved $17 billion on their energy bills and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.
