Elaine named design-build construction manager for Ellenbogen Center for Health Sciences Education

Elaine Construction was selected as the design/build construction management firm for the 14,000 s/f Ellenbogen Center for Health Sciences Education at Hologic's headquarters. This innovative facility was the first of its kind for Hologic, offering state-of-the-art facilities and training both onsite and remotely to healthcare practitioners throughout the world. This project is an addition to Hologic's 250,000 s/f headquarters, which Elaine Const. built in 1999. The new $1 million center features an 80-seat auditorium, two training rooms, a café, conference room, and offices for onsite personnel and visitors. As the first center of its kind, Hologic required a high degree of flexibility in configuring the center for its various applications and a welcoming environment in which to train its healthcare professional client population in the usage of Hologic's sophisticated equipment. The project schedule was very aggressive and Elaine delivered using design/build methodology, selecting subcontractors with proven expertise in this model, selecting Bryer Architects as the project designer on the team, and managing all project participants, including furniture vendors and audiovisual equipment providers. The AV component was particularly sophisticated and critical to the successful operation of the center. Elaine worked with AdTech to design and install the AV system. The David Ellenbogen Center for Health Sciences Education offers courses and course formats that have been specially designed for the health science practitioner. The curriculum offers participants an opportunity to actively take part in didactic and hands-on sessions that utilize the most advanced tools available on the market today. The courses range from digital mammography and breast biopsy to advanced bone densitometry techniques. Ellenbogen was a co-founder of Hologic and chairman and chief executive since the company was formed in 1985. Ellenbogen died in June 2001. The Center was dedicated to his memory in July 2007. Hologic is a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of premium diagnostic and medical imaging systems dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of women, and a leading developer of state-of-the-art digital imaging technology for general radiography and mammography applications. Its core business units are focused on osteoporosis assessment, mammography and breast biopsy, direct-to-digital x-ray for general radiography applications and mini C-arm imaging for orthopedic applications.
