Meals will become a much more pleasant experience for students at the University of Rhode Island (URI) thanks to an $8 million expansion of Butterfield Dining Hall.
DiPrete Engineering handled the site engineering for the three-phased project. The upgrade added 7,500 s/f to the existing building, a paved plaza for greater pedestrian access between the dining hall and residence hall, and an expansion of the loading dock.
DiPrete's scope of work included the schematic design, design development, utility research and design, grease trap design, construction documentation, and LEED submittals.
The project architect was Vision 3 Architects and landscape architect was Birchwood Design Group.
