DiPrete continues construction of Citizens Bank Corporate Campus

Johnston, RI Construction of the new Citizens Bank Corporate Campus located off of Greenville Ave. is moving along, with a new exit and entrance ramp onto Rte. 295 currently in the works. The site’s wetland crossings are also being installed with arch culverts, and an extension of utilities to service the site and the surrounding area are underway.

The pace at which this project was conceived, designed, and permitted has been set on a very fast-track involving almost every aspect of engineering and a significant amount of regulatory permits in a short amount of time.

The site/civil project team led by DiPrete Engineering includes Pare Corporation (offsite utilities and geotechnical) and Beta Group (traffic and highway) in collaboration with Elkus Manfredi Architects, CRJA-IBI Group, and supported by GZA GeoEnvironmental, BR + A, and McNamara Salvia. Cushman and Wakefield is representing Citizens as the owner’s project manager, Premier Development is responsible for site work, Dimeo Construction Company is completing the building, and DiGregorio Corp. is handling the site work.

DiPrete has obtained permits from RIDEM, RIDOT and the town of Johnston.

“This is one of the most challenging project’s we’ve worked on,” said Nicole Reilly, PE, LEED AP and vice president at DiPrete Engineering. “Close and continuous collaboration among the team and regulatory authorities has been key in meeting all of the detailed regulatory requirements necessary to keep the project on pace.”

The campus is designed to foster collaboration among colleagues, create an excellent experience for their customers, and become a special place for the community. The 123-acre site will include a number of sporting facilities that will be open to the public, including a baseball field where local Little League teams will play, a soccer field, a beach volleyball court, two basketball courts, a tennis court and two bocce courts.

The bank’s headquarters will remain in downtown Providence. Citizens has about 5,300 total employees in Rhode Island, including workers at branch locations.

The Citizens Bank Corporate Campus is expected to be complete by mid-2018.
