CTA Construction completes 12th phase of Newtowne Court project

Cambridge, MA CTA Construction Managers has completed the 12th of 36 phases on the Newtowne Court renovation project, which includes updates to eight buildings and 268 affordable housing units.

CTA Construction and Baker/Wohl Associates, the architect and owner project manager on the site, started the $44 million Newtowne Court project in 2015. The project consists of a comprehensive interior and exterior renovation to 268 affordable family units at Newtowne Court, which is owned by the Cambridge Housing Authority.

“We are pleased with the progress made at the Newtowne Court site thus far and look forward to returning more units to residents,” said Paul DuRoss, project executive at CTA Construction. “Our team is proud to be delivering high quality units to the Newtowne Court community and the Cambridge Housing Authority.”

The Newtowne Court renovation plan calls for extensive upgrades to the interior of the 268 units, including removal of asbestos containing materials, engineered wood floors, drywall, and paint, replacement of all windows, new HVAC systems, electrical upgrades, plumbing upgrades and installation of a fire protection system. Improvements will also be made to the bathrooms and kitchens, including new finishes and fixtures, appliances, countertops, and cabinet doors. 

CTA Construction has completed the first 12 phases of the Newtowne Court renovation. Over the next year CTA will continue work on the remaining units, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
