Columbia Const. completes upgrade to 130,000 s/f Courtyard by Marriott

Columbia Construction Company has completed the Courtyard by Marriott which is located along the Charles River. Formerly a Radisson, this 130,000 s/f hotel was completely refurbished and features 203 guest rooms; 3,100 s/f of meeting space; a full-service business center; a fitness center with swimming pool; and a restaurant with a and lounge. The total project cost was approximately $15.5 million. As construction manager, Columbia played a key role in successfully managing this complete demolition/rehabilitation project on behalf of the owner, Pyramid Project Management, LLC. The 16-story, brick high-rise entailed upgrades to the entire infrastructure; as well as installation of all new windows and building systems. A high performance mechanical system was also installed to meet the demands of a high-rise facility, so as to maintain a comfortable and healthy environment, while remaining energy efficient. All guestrooms, public areas and meeting spaces are now fully equipped with wireless technology. Designed by Group One Partners, Inc., the project also included the construction of an architectural canopy over the main entrance, as well as an ornamental stairway in the lobby.
