Carthy named a principal at FinanceBoston

Boston, MA Shane Carthy has been named a principal at the growing commercial real estate capital advisory firm FinanceBoston.

Carthy, who joined FinanceBoston as an associate in June 2021, will have responsibilities in business development, closing transactions and account management.

“Since joining us two years ago, Shane has developed a reputation for fierce and dogged determination on behalf of his clients,” said Fergal Woods, founder and managing partner of FinanceBoston. “He very quickly got one of our core values, which is that if our clients’ best interest comes first success will follow.”

“It is my pleasure to promote Shane to principal at FinanceBoston,” Woods said. Carthy joins Brian Rooney as a principal at the firm. Rooney was promoted a year ago.

Carthy works closely with developers on securing commercial construction debt and equity for development projects. Having grown up in a construction and property environment, he gained a keen interest in all aspects of the business.

Before joining FinanceBoston, Carthy worked at Bank of Ireland in Dublin, where he became a Qualified Financial Advisor. He was a project manager with a background primarily in residential and commercial mortgages. Carthy earned a full athletic and academic scholarship for both his Bachelor of Business Studies degree and Masters in Business Strategy from Dublin City University. Carthy is also a former elite athlete, having won three All-Ireland medals representing his county, Dublin, and Club St. Vincent’s playing Gaelic Football.
