Building a Better Brockton, Inc. aligns with Brockton 21st Century Corporation to better develop programs

Brockton has recently taken the bold step of combining its redevelopment authority and traditional planning structure while adding a finance component to more aggressively pursue economic development. It has created a new non-profit, Building a Better Brockton, Inc., and aligned it with the Brockton 21st Century Corporation to better develop programs to nurture existing businesses and attract new businesses. Recently, it successfully recruited another business, Kinnealey Meats from Boston to an existing 180,000 s/f building. Its message to Kinnealey was direct and focused. Brockton has many attractive attributes for businesses to consider. Brockton is the perfect location for new or expanding business. Centrally located on Rte. 24 and within close proximity to Rtes. 495 and 95/128, Brockton offers easy access to Boston, Providence, Plymouth and Cape Cod. Boston, only 21 miles away, is also easily accessed via three Brockton commuter rail stations providing full service to Boston in only 35 minutes. More than half the state's population is within 30 minutes. Brockton offers many attractive, reasonably priced sites for business. Available 43D approved buildings range from 50,000 s/fto 400,000 s/f. Developable land in the city ranges from 5 acres to 70 acres. Brockton also boasts an active municipal government that offers Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) and competitive development incentives. They are also prepared to streamline permitting for pre-designated districts and buildings. Brockton businesses have no limit to their growth due to excellent resources. Brockton has recently expanded and upgraded its water and sewer capacity. New England's only desalination plant supplies abundant water to Brockton, providing the perfect location for many industries, including food production and biotech companies. Brockton's workforce also provides a draw for business. Exceptional higher educational and certificate granting institutions, such as Massasoit Community College, Southeastern Vocational Technical School, Bridgewater State College and Stonehill College, ensure a stable workforce with varied skill sets.
