Boyle of LandVest facilitates sale of C&C Reading Farm

West Bridgewater, MA C&C Reading Farm in Southeastern Massachusetts has a new owner following its sale. The 74-acre farm sold for $1.5 million with the personal property (farm equipment, etc.) sold for an additional $300,000. Terry Boyle of LandVest represented the seller.

“I was proud that LandVest and I could play a small part in ensuring that this important part of the Southeastern Massachusetts agricultural community will remain a vibrant farm and business into the future,” said Boyle.

“Projects like this are more complicated than a simple residential listing, but they are incredibly rewarding in the connections that are made and in seeing what we can all accomplish. Credit to Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR), they were incredible to work with through the entire sale process–especially Taylor Arsenault. I have sold a number of Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) properties now and I will say that these sellers, Lynn and Pete, are two of my favorites in 20 years. They are great people so I am really happy about the great outcome.”

The buyer is an agricultural small business owner from Brazil, who also operates a similar business on Martha’s Vineyard. They will continue to run the farm stand and will be employing family members on the farm.

The continuation of C&C Reading Farm is due in large part to the APR. The APR, held by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has allowed a new owner to step in and continue this business and support the Southeastern Massachusetts community.

“We are thrilled to see it remain a farm. We’ve been honored to be the farm’s stewards for nine years,” said the sellers, Pete and Lynn Reading.
